It is insoluble in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and normal alkali, but soluble in HF, aqua regia and hot NAOH solution. It dissolves faster under the action of H202. The zone melted germanium ingot is a polycrystal with high purity, which is mainly used as raw material for the production of germanium single crystal.
